Family business owner, Robin Elt, has recently made the final of a coveted Footwear Industry Award for Personality of the Year 2019. The shop owner is better known in the Worcester and Hereford area in the title of a traditional quality shoe store, Robin Elt Shoes.
Robin Elt himself will be joining the top players in the footwear sector at a stunning awards ceremony following the MODA fashion show on Sunday 17 February at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The shoe chain is also up for four more awards including Independent Family Footwear Retailer of the Year and Outdoor Retailer of the Year.
Like his forefathers before him, Elt joined the business in 1964 which means, to date, he has had an impressive 55 years at the helm. During this time, Elt has been responsible for growing the business out to other beautiful towns with strong tourist destinations, including Hereford, Ludlow, Pershore, Malvern, Worcester, Torquay and Totnes. Today the Robin Elt Emporium operates from eight UK stores and an online website.
The family expertise is recognised throughout the footwear sector. Industry insiders vote in the awards and a judging panel made up of independent industry representatives decides upon the ultimate winner in each category. The Personality of the Year Award highlights the best footwear representatives in the trade who have made outstanding contributions to the shoe industry.
Inspired into a lifelong love and knowledge of leather, Robin works alongside his daughter, Jenny Elt, and an enthusiastic team of dedicated staff.
Director, Robin Elt said, “While working at Crockett & Jones in 1965, I fell in love with the texture and smell of leather. This developed into a lifelong passion for quality footwear made in both the traditional welted way and from the latest PU technology as evidenced by avant-garde companies such as Ecco. I can think of no better way of spending a lifetime working in such a friendly industry.”
The winners will be announced at a prestigious Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Sunday 17 February 2019 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The British Footwear Association (BFA), Footwear Friends, Society of Shoe Fitters (SSF) and Footwear Today support the awards.
