KEMP launches trio of colourful fundraisers

Wyre Forest charity KEMP Hospice is preparing for a summer of colour as it launches three vital fundraising efforts as part of its 50th anniversary year.

The charity, which was formed in 1969, is planning events to take place in June, August and September this year, which is hoped will help it to bolster its annual efforts to raise the money needed to provide its care and support to people of the Wyre Forest district. The events will certainly be colourful as KEMP is theming them around specific pallets.

Pink and blue will be the colours adorning its revamped Midnight Memories Walk event on 14 June as the charity invites men to join women participants for the first time. The Midnight Memories Walk will bring people together for a 5 km moonlit walk through the Wyre Forest in Bewdley, walking in memory of loved ones who have died. As well as the special remembrance walk there will be a forest disco and live music provided by singer Zoe Alexander, the UK’s best Pink tribute act who shot to fame after appearing on X-Factor in 2012.

KEMP has also revealed a rainbow of colour will be on display at its first ever music festival. KEMPfest will see local bands and singers joining the same stage as famous acts on Sunday 18 August as the charity takes over the festival space at SHED Food & Drink at Crossway Green near Stourport. The music festival will be a day-long family friendly music event, with headline acts performing alongside local talent. Tickets are now on sale for KEMPfest, with headline acts being announced very soon.

Finally, KEMP will be embracing its 50th anniversary in style with a special fundraising masquerade ball being put together for September. The KEMP Golden Butterfly Ball, sponsored by TH Baker, will take place at Spring Grove House on 27 September. The theme for the evening is ‘Black & Gold’ and will feature two live bands, a silent auction and a three-course lavish dinner and champagne after-party.

KEMP Hospice Events Manager Shelley Stanley said it will be a colourful summer: “We’re looking at a rainbow of events this summer at KEMP Hospice, on top of the gold of our 50th anniversary. The events we put on are a vital part of fundraising, ensuring that we can achieve the £1.5 million it costs a year to offer KEMP’s services free-of-charge to families of the Wyre Forest district. From our first ever music festival, to our glittering golden ball, it’s going to be a spectacular year. We’ll be making brand new memories to add to the five decades worth that KEMP has proudly been a part of the local community. Memories will play a key part in our annual Wyre Forest walk in June and we are encouraging everyone who can take part to register now. The walk is beautiful, with added magic from the incredible people that take part. Everyone at the Midnight Memories Walk will be there to honour the memory of a loved one. I can’t wait to see the forest lit-up with smiles, lights and love.”
